A Trip to the Dentist

Today was Cole’s first official teeth cleaning.  This had been a long anticipated visit as this would be the first time he would have to actually lay down on his own table and actually have a full cleaning with instruments.

Steph and I were both a bit apprehensive about what the morning might turn out like.  Typically if he says no, he means it and there’s very little you can say or do that will change his mind.

However, when we arrived he was in a great mood – he quickly went to play in the small play area and pretty quickly he was called in.  NW Pediatric Dentistry is a great place, their staff is amazingly good at dealing with kids and just as soon as Cole went in they started showing him how everything worked.  He loved it and thought it was cool to see everything before they used it on him.  He just laid right down on the table and opened his mouth and did exactly as he was asked – we were truly amazed.  We would have thought he was 8 or 9 with the way he was acting, not scared or nervous, just slightly quiet and willing to do whatever he was asked.  It was great to watch.  We were so proud.
Alex meanwhile – slept for 10 minutes in the car going to the dentist office and woke up and watched the whole thing.  No fussing, just bemused interest.  He’s next…
