This year was an especially exciting year for the Windemuth family vacation as we all decided (including Ryan, Lai, Tyler and Ava) to all head out to the Oregon Coast, rent a house, and spend a long weekend soaking up sun (or rain), the beach and the view.

It was spectacular! The views were breathtaking and the weather, absolutely perfect, every day! (an oddity for the Oregon Coast).
If it weren’t for the kids I think we would have just sat out on the deck all day soaking up the views and sun. However, the kids had other plans. The boy’s LOVED playing with their cousins. Unfortunately, they don’t see them nearly enough and when they do they love getting as much out of them as they can. I think for Tyler and Ava’s part, they perhaps wonder what these kids want?
Our boy’s couldn’t get enough playing in the sand. The only downside, the beach was down the hill and not exactly an easy walk for a 2-year-old.

So we ended up driving and unloading a menagerie of beachware. We were prepared! Perhaps over prepared – the wagon we loaded everything into, didn’t exactly work well in the sand, and pretty quickly 30 feet from the car looked like a decent enough place to plant ourselves.

The kids built sand castles and Alex tore them apart. Alex and Cole both ate and threw more sand then they probably collected in their buckets. We walked up and down the shore and froze in the cold Pacific water.
Tyler, Ryan, Cole and Todd went hiking around the rock and got a good look at a hole in the rock face and Tyler showed Cole exactly how to ‘pet’ a sea anemone.
The kids favorite time though, was hanging out with Papa and Grandma.
Unfortunately, 4 days isn’t very long when you’re eating as well as we were and having as much fun together and soon it was all over. However, we liked it so much we’re likely headed back next year!
