Cole’s Letter Blueberry’s

Today Cole decided his blueberry’s looked strangely like the letters in the alphabet.  So he went through the alphabet one by one spelling it with his blueberry’s.  Very cute and smart.

August, 2011

What a month it’s been!  Alex has just turned 5 months old, and is really starting to take off now.  What was once an infant who was beginning to see and take in the world has now turned in to a full blown baby – reaching, grabbing, laughing and sitting up!  Yesterday (8/27) he “played” roll-the-ball with big brother Cole.  Too cute!  He’s also begun playing with and pulling the “moose” toy on his car seat. Getting big!

2 Yo’s

What an exciting time it is – we’re priveledged to see Cole beginning to develop his language skills and to “try out” language concepts.

Today we were talking about yo-yos.  He has a hard time saying the word (preferring not to move his mouth so much).  Eventually, he got it, and we moved on.  Later, when we came back to it (I showed him a picture of the yo-yo and asked “what is it?” he answered “Two yo’s!”

Alex – Milestones

Alex is on a bit of a sleeping binge lately.  The last three nights have been 6, 7. then 8 hours respectively. Hurray!  Although I’m not convinced that this is a pattern, it’s fun to imagine what a full nights sleep will be like.  We’ll see what tonight brings.

Important dates for Alex:
May 18 – First smile
May 27 – First roll over (accidental maybe, but it counts!)
June  4 – First 8 hour sleep at night

December 25 – First crawling
January 20, 2012 – First sign-language word (“more”)

I blame….Papa!

Sometimes the funniest moments happen when you catch your kids so red-handed doing something they’re not supposed to they come up with the oddest things.  Cole had a bit of a red-handed moment today.

He went down for a nap around 2pm, but with all the morning fun in the sun outside, he was apparently not ready to sleep.  He had been laying in bed singing, talking, playing with his Elmo’s and doing just about everything but sleep.  Around 3:30p Steph heard banging and went in to check on him.  Apparently the wooden letters on the wall above his dresser looked particularly interesting and Cole decided they needed to come down.  He had climbed off his bed and on to the dresser and had just removed the letter ‘e’ when Mom opened the door to his great surprise.  Steph asked, “What are you doing?”

Cole, totally caught, was grinning sheepishly.  He sat there for a second trying to think of something to say, then in a big gesture pointed down the hall and proclaimed ‘Papa!’ (Papa has not been at our house for weeks).  Apparently Papa made him do it.
