Little steps

Big day today for Alex – he walked down the entire flight of stairs on his own.  He didn’t hold on to anything and didn’t stop!  Small victories and little steps, but a great moment for our precious boy.

Amazing

One evening Alex was getting wiggly and was generally being annoying.  In an effort to get him off me for a moment, I asked him to “run all the way around Alex!”  He happily took off running.  About half way around (he made it in to the play room) it became quiet.  He didn’t come, and didn’t come and didn’t come.  Finally, I sent Cole in search of his brother.  When  Cole got to the play room we heard him say “Alex, you were lost, but now you’re found.  You were blind, but now you see!”

Elmo went to Heaven

Tonight, Elmo went to Heaven…

As I’m putting Cole down tonight he said that he wanted to tell “Elmo stories” – his version of talking about things that are on his mind rather than reading a story.

“God is coming today Mommy!  It’s a VERY SPECIAL day! But, it’s only for Elmo.  Look, here goes Elmo, up on the cloud.  It’s veeeeerrrrryyy cold on the cloud, like this (woooooooooo) and very quiet too.  Look!  Elmo’s in Heaven now.  It’s BEAUTIFUL!  Elmo has an orange bed that’s VERY soft, and an orange bunny.  Oh, and pink carpet!”

Is God good at playing?

While tucking Cole in to bed this evening, I gave him a kiss and headed for the door.

Cole: “Mommy? How did Jesus make God?”
Mom: “Well, it didn’t really work like that.  We call God ‘The Father’ and Jesus is the son.”
Cole: “But if God is the father, how did He start?”
Mom: “What good thinking Buddy.  The truth is, He’s just ALWAYS been there.  He never started and He’ll never end.  He just is.”
Cole: “Ok.  Mommy? Is God good at playing?”
Mom: “I’m sure He is!”
Cole: “And when I’m playing with him, what if I get cold? Will He give me a warm blanket?”
Mom: “He will take such good care of you, yes!”
Cole: “Ok.”

Extra Cranky

Tonight Cole was having a terrible evening.  Once I got him in to bed, he kept begging for more and more and more snuggling.  After telling him no, it was time for sleeping he replied “but I’m extra cranky so I need extra snuggles.”  Not bad for 3-year old logic.
