{"id":31,"date":"2012-01-08T21:22:00","date_gmt":"2012-01-09T05:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bejangled.com\/blog\/?p=31"},"modified":"2012-11-21T21:18:13","modified_gmt":"2012-11-22T05:18:13","slug":"the-ikea-trip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.bejangled.com\/?p=31","title":{"rendered":"The IKEA Trip"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nothing like IKEA. \u00a0Today seemed a perfect opportunity for the boy&#8217;s first trip to the Seattle IKEA Commerce Center. \u00a0Strangely enough it&#8217;s out in Renton and nowhere near Seattle and it&#8217;s a &#8216;commerce center&#8217; which to say it&#8217;s probably a pretty big deal in Renton. \u00a0Seriously, the place is huge though. \u00a0It took us all afternoon to wander through the suggested IKEA lifestyle show and finally get to the checkout. \u00a0It was also a great opportunity for us to get to know our boy&#8217;s just a bit better.<\/p>\n<p>It turns out that Alex may be even more stubborn and opinionated then his brother! \u00a0When he started to get bored sitting in the cart he started gnawing on the metal crossbeam on the cart. \u00a0Steph, already accustomed to this ritual gently pried his head back to which Alex strongly retorted with something like a growl and a yell all together at a fairly loud volume in the crowded store. \u00a0My reaction upon seeing this was to assume this was a technique issue so I bravely stepped in and placed a burp rag over the metal bar and took over pushing the cart. \u00a0Twenty seconds later Alex, who by this time had\u00a0forcibly\u00a0removed the burp rag, again had his teeth firmly around the bar. \u00a0I tried a slightly similar technique to Steph which\u00a0elicited\u00a0a rather louder and strong bark, growl, and yell\u00a0simultaneously. \u00a0However, I replaced the burp rag and firmly held my hands over it to prevent any further removal. \u00a0That didn&#8217;t deter Alex. \u00a0He continued his\u00a0staccato\u00a0yell, bark, growl but increased the volume and glared at me all the while. \u00a0Fortunately\u00a0for Alex he has a built in cheering section. \u00a0His brother, sitting in the cart right behind him was only too happy to see the exciting action in the front-section of the cart and immediately started\u00a0mimicking\u00a0Alex at precisely the same volume and tenor.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.bejangled.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/CameraZOOM-20120108163920975.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.bejangled.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/CameraZOOM-201201081639209751.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>As people hurried by they shot us disapproving glances and a few mouthed &#8216;Wow!&#8217; while we cowered in the corner of the designer closet section trying to attract our boys attention and silence. \u00a0After 3 minutes everything stopped and both Alex and Cole resumed their normal happy affable selves as if nothing at all had happened. \u00a0It took another 30 minutes for Steph and I to resume normalcy.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.bejangled.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/CameraZOOM-20120108164030349.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.bejangled.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/CameraZOOM-201201081640303491.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>The rest of the time the boys were amazing and fun. \u00a0Alex started to fall asleep towards the end (not strange as we had started many hours before) so we filled them up with special $1.00 IKEA frozen yogurt &#8211; definitely something not to be missed!<\/p>\n<p>Fun day &#8211; but I think we&#8217;ve just found out the fun is just starting&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nothing like IKEA. \u00a0Today seemed a perfect opportunity for the boy&#8217;s first trip to the Seattle IKEA Commerce Center. \u00a0Strangely enough it&#8217;s out in Renton and nowhere near Seattle and it&#8217;s a &#8216;commerce center&#8217; which to say it&#8217;s probably a pretty big deal in Renton. \u00a0Seriously, the place is huge though. \u00a0It took us all [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_s2mail":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-31","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized","author-twindemu"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.7 -
